Overview

Pho Huong (Authentic Pho Ha Noi) offers a sincere taste of northern Vietnamese cuisine right in the heart of Bankstown, Sydney. Specializing in traditional pho and other classic Vietnamese dishes, this eatery stands out for its commitment to authenticity and quality ingredients. Located at 15/256 Chapel Rd, it caters primarily to those seeking genuine northern-style pho, a broth characterized by its delicate, lighter flavors that differ from the richer southern variants.

The standout on the menu is undoubtedly the Phở Bò – beef pho that delivers a clear, fragrant broth paired with generous, tender cuts of beef. Reviewers consistently praise the subtle complexity of the broth, highlighting its balance of savory depth without overpowering heaviness. Equally noteworthy is the Bún Cá, a sweet and sour fish noodle dish that brings a refreshing twist to the traditional noodle soup experience. Another gem is the Phở Gà Đùi, featuring free-range chicken thigh that adds a wholesome, tender dimension often applauded for its freshness and home-cooked comfort.

Customers appreciate the spacious, clean atmosphere and attentive service, which together create a welcoming setting for families, casual diners, and food enthusiasts eager to explore authentic northern Vietnamese flavors. The menu also offers complementary sides like dough sticks and traditional Vietnamese iced beverages such as cà phê and fresh coconut water, which enhance the overall dining experience.

While some guests have noted minor inconsistencies—such as the use of dry noodles instead of fresh or occasional overcooking of fried dough sticks—the majority emphasize the generous portions and thoughtful preparation that make Pho Huong a noteworthy destination in Sydney’s vibrant Vietnamese culinary scene.

For those seeking a genuine northern pho experience, Pho Huong presents an inviting blend of tradition, freshness, and comfort in an accessible suburban location. Whether you’re after a nourishing bowl of beef pho or a fragrant chicken noodle soup, this restaurant offers a meaningful glimpse into Hanoi’s culinary heritage without having to leave Australia.

One of the few places in Sydney serving authentic northern-style pho that we’ve tried. The broth was lighter with subtle, delicate flavours, yet still very enjoyable. The portion sizes were generous, with plenty of tender beef cuts. I also noticed the kitchen was exceptionally clean, which made the whole dining experience even better. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a true taste of northern Vietnam!

Some friends recommended Pho Huong, but it wasn’t what I expected in terms of genuine Vietnamese flavour. Even though it’s located in a Vietnamese suburb, the taste was quite ordinary and similar to many places around Sydney. The fried doughnut was also overcooked. Overall, not the authentic experience I was hoping for

I discovered this amazing free-range chicken noodle soup by accident, and it turned out to be a hidden gem in Sydney! The broth was rich and flavorful, with a perfect balance of seasoning, and the chicken was tender and juicy. The noodles had just the right texture, soaking up all the delicious flavors. What stood out was the freshness of the ingredients, particularly the free-range chicken, which gave it a wholesome, homely taste. It’s one of those meals that makes you feel nourished and satisfied. Definitely a place worth revisiting if you want comfort food with quality!

This is my favourite northern style pho in Sydney. The broth was light yet so flavorful, and they were so generous with the meat. Staff was also incredibly accommodating. However, I think they use dry pho noodles instead of fresh.

Lovely Pho, filling and tasty. Full of greens too, more than usual which was a delightful surprise. The small is still filling and was a joy to eat. And best of all, at a decent price too, $17 for a small bowl which was enough for the hungry boy I am.

This was our first time here so we had a bit of trouble finding it as the entrance is on the Brandon Ave side of the arcade. We ordered the pho bo, bun mang ga (shredded chicken with bamboo) and bun ca (fish soup with vermicelli). All dishes were wonderful. I particularly liked the bun mang ca due to the tenderness of the chicken and the flavour of the broth.
